We are proud to announce the start of distribution of CANVAS HiFi for the BeNeLux. When we first met Kim Neeper Rasmussen and Laust Nielsen there was an instant connection with the love of sound and the passion for music and movies. This is exactly what binds us at the core and how CANVAS HiFi has made its mark by creating a seamless integration with any television that can rival with a standalone HiFi system.
As their journey unfolded, CANVAS ceased to be a mere project; it evolved into a testament to human ingenuity and the relentless pursuit of excellence. The once insurmountable limitations became stepping stones to innovation. CANVAS, which had started as a dream, was now a reality—a true HiFi sound system that defied expectations. CANVAS is not just a product; it’s a testament to what can be achieved when passion meets technology, and the pursuit of excellence knows no bounds.
CANVAS HiFi presents a true HiFi in a TV audio product fit into modern living room decor, unlike any traditional HiFi product. The technology starts with a rigid cabinet with a BridgeBrace structural bracing system for the speakers. These are again feed by powerful amplifiers and a four-channel Burr-Brown DAC with advanced linear phase Analog Devices DSP crossovers. The speakers feature a high-end SB Acoustics die-cast aluminium chassis, next-gen paper cone bass/midrange drivers, high-precision stiff paper cone long excursion passive radiators, and die-cast aluminium waveguide silk dome tweeters that integrate into the front grilles, resulting in a zero diffraction design.
Connect CANVAS to your network via the CANVAS app. For streaming, CANVAS features a next-gen wireless module, with Apple AirPlay 2 and Google Cast, both being multi-room compatible with all other brands of speakers. Furthermore it features Tidal Connect and Spotify Connect and soon to be announced Roon. It also has Toslink digital optical input to connect for instance a SONOS Connect box, and analog with a great Burr-Brown ADC, so that turntables can be connected, to experience your records in unprecedented spacial fidelity.
CANVAS features HDMI eARC, which means it will integrate with your TV seamlessly. You won’t have to think about it being there; it will just work seamlessly with your TV remote. Even an Apple TV remote can control the volume in CANVAS directly. Furthermore, HDMI eARC ensures no annoying lip-sync issues, where picture and sound is out of sync in movies, shows and concerts.
CANVAS HiFi has integrated a room correction system that is integrated through their own CANVAS iOS and Android app. This system linearize the frequency response, and now the bass gains are suddenly a big advantage, with increased output compared to free standing speakers. And since the bass gain is not dependent on the time domain, unlike room modes, DSP-corrected boundary gains sound great. iPhone’s microphone can be used to do these measurements to run this correction – optionally, CANVAS HiFi has a Zen smart reference microphone, which can be used with both Android and iPhone, for even better results.
CANVAS HiFi has integrated BACCH 3D (Band-Assembled Crosstalk Cancellation Hierarchy) to avoid cross-talk and experience real stereo imaging, just as you would in a traditional hifi setup. BACCH 3D works as a digital mattress placed from your nose to the speakers, ensuring your left ear only hears sound from the left speaker, and your right ear only hears sound from the right speaker. This brings back true 3D stereo imaging, rivalling the best and most expensive stand alone High End HiFi systems on the market, with real width, depth and height in the sound image.
It is important to note, that BACCH 3D is not a filter that adds anything to the sound, like reverb or fake surround, it simply removes errors in the sound waves reaching your ears, enabling your ears and brain to hear in 3D, with no coloration to the sound. And best of all, it works with all stereo recordings made in the last 70 years! Not only that, it unpacks down-mixed Dolby Atmos, for stunning surround sound for movies.
CANVAS comes bundled with a universal TV mount adhering to VESA standards, allowing you to mount your existing or future TV screen on top and align things. In case a new TV is purchased the front design can also be purchased separately. This new Universal TV mount fitting design for the second-generation CANVAS designs enables the new speakers to be attached to 55, 65, 75 and 77-inch screen sizes of what Canvas describes as “the vast majority of new TVs on the market”. The universal mount can be placed on the floor or mounted on the wall or CANVAS can be used as a stand-alone music system.
CANVAS is future-proof, with automatic over-the-air software updates, in case we come up with an even better soundtuning someday, or new streaming formats arrive. Even the electronic hardware is designed to be upgradable, in case someday in the future new streaming or wired standards arrive, which is not software upgradable.
The particularly service-friendly modular structure also makes it easy to replace components, both within the extended 5-year warranty and after the warranty has expired. This ensures that the product can be easily serviced in your home.
